Winterfest 2017

On Friday, February 17, The New School of Montpelier held “Winterfest”, an afternoon-long celebration of Winter.

We all gathered as a school to have lunch, which had been cooked by students and staff, and ate in mixed groups at large communal tables. The afternoon activities included snowshoeing, sledding, and spending time around a campfire; all of these were held a short walk from school. Some students also chose to stay inside and participate in a drumming circle – we each took turns leading the group and making up rhythms for everyone to follow.

The students ended the day feeling “tired and happy” and said it was “a good day.”
