Fundraising Campaign

Alumni Hall, 45 College Street & Bishop-Hatch Hall, 41 College Street

Founded in 2004, The New School of Montpelier (NSM) is a worker cooperative therapeutic school approved by the Vermont Agency of Education to provide general and special education services to students ages 5-22 in grades K-12.
Our mission is to be a learning community committed to preparing individuals with unique and complex challenges for successful lives. We use evidence based practices to promote independence, communication, social/emotional skill, and academic growth within a culture of safety and belonging.

Roof Revitalization
Alumni Hall is a historic community event space, built in 1932, that has hosted the winter farmer’s market, proms, weddings, concerts, retirement parties, art shows, and more. We are raising funds to repair the roof of Alumni Hall which is on the verge of failing with high winds blowing off shingles and allowing rain to enter through the cupola.

Expanded Classrooms
Bishop Hall is a dormitory built in 1958. Since 2009 The New School has rented one floor for classroom space. We are raising funds to finish ongoing renovations creating a second floor of classroom space and revitalize critical building systems including asbestos abatement, roof replacement, installing sprinklers, installing ventilation and decoupling from old college infrastructure with new electric service, water service, and a heat system.
Help us raise the funds to finish the creation of additional classroom space for students with intensive needs in Bishop Hall and to revitalize the Alumni Hall auditorium roof available for community events.
