Life After New School
The transition from school years to adult life often feels like a steep waterfall – an abrupt drop without enough support. We don't accept that.
Our transition program transforms this challenging passage into a gentler journey, creating pathways that help students move gradually toward independence and meaningful adult lives.

The question "Where do you go after New School?" drives everything we do. Through carefully planned steps beginning in early high school, we help students develop the practical skills, work experience, and community connections they'll need to thrive. Our goal isn’t just to help students graduate – it’s to ensure they have the skills to live and work as independently as possible in their communities.

Early Planning, Better Outcomes
Transition planning begins as early as 8th grade, giving students time to explore possibilities and build confidence. Through interest inventories in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade, students discover potential paths that align with their abilities and goals.

Our work-based coordinator connects with businesses and organizations throughout Vermont, creating opportunities in students' own communities. Each placement is carefully matched to individual interests and abilities. Students may start with partial days, gradually building their comfort and capabilities at their own pace.
